The Air Conditioner On My Motorhome Does Not Work On Generator Power

by Tommy
(Sanford N,C)

2000 Fleetwood Bounder air conditioner works on shore power but when switched to generator AC will not work.I heard a clicking noise in panel box where climate control boxs is located.

ANSWER: Greetings Tommy thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

It sounds like the AC unit is not getting any power from the generator. You also did not tell me if your other 120 volt appliances and outlets are working on generator power. So I am going to have to give you some general areas to look at.

The first thing I would do is go into the generator compartment of your motorhome and look at the circuit breakers on the generator itself. You might find a tripped circuit breaker on the generator.

I would also go into the electrical compartment of your motorhome and check all of the other Circuit breakers.

There are several other conditions that could be causing your problem, but based on the limited information you have given me I really cannot tell you exactly what is going on.

Hope this helps.
