How Do I Install An LCD TV In My RV?

by Fred
(E. Tawas, Michigan)

Has anyone done it? How did you mount it? Were you able to access the cabinet space old tv was in? How did you trim it out?

ANSWER Greetings Fred thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

How you install a Flat Screen TV in your RV is purely up to your ingenuity. There are so many Flatscreen TV Mounting Brackets available that you can mount the TV on a swing arm bracket mounted to a cabinet, or a flip down bracket mounted to the ceiling or even a stationary bracket mounted to a wall in the RV.

You may not even want to mount your new TV in the old TV cabinet. Instead you can convert the old TV cabinet into additional storage space. Watch the video below from RV NOW with Jim Twamley on how easy it is to convert your old TV cabinet into a storage cabinet.

If you do decide to install a flat panel TV in the old TV cabinet, you may have to hire a carpenter to properly modify the cabinets to fit your new TV as most flat panel TVs are in the widescreen 16:9 aspect ratio which will not fit properly in a basic square cabinet.

If you are a good do it yourselfer you should visit the The RV Navigator Website and view their Tale of 2 TVs page where long-time RVers Ken and Martha outline how they installed 2 new flat panels TVs in their RV.

Hopefully this information will be helpful to you. If any of our visitors have additional tips for you they can add them to this page by clicking on the add a comment link located near the bottom of this page.

Happy RVing
