I Am Having Problems With The Slide Out On My Travel Trailer

by DR
(TX)

I have an Fleetwood Wilderness Travel Trailer when I move the slideout in the seal on the outside is very tight at the bottom but just touches at the top is this correct or do I need to adjust the slide?

ANSWER: Greetings DR thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

I am afraid that without actually seeing what you are talking about, it will be very hard for me to determine if the slide out has a problem or not. The weather seals should be contacting the slide out itself. If it has too much contact on the top or the bottom this could be a problem and the slide out may have to be worked on.

I would suggest that you take your travel trailer to an RV repair facility and have one of the RV Technicians look at it. It will not take them long to determine if there is a problem with the slide.

Some slide outs can be adjusted easily by RVers, but there are other slide out systems that may not be easy for a do-it-yourselfer to work on or adjust. In some cases trying to repair or adjust a slide out yourself may cause further problems or damage the slide out system.

Slideout Manuals
by: Texas Chief

Many of the RV's used Lippert frames. They have manuals on the slides that tell how to adjust them - http://www.lci1.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=55-slideout-owner-manuals&catid=38-owners-manuals&Itemid=66
