Leaking RV Slide Out

by Michael
(Independence,Mo.64058)

We have a 2006 Alfa 5th wheel and when the one slide out is out it leaks in the bedroom when it rains. There is a small gap. Alfa is out of business, can anyone tell us what we can do?

ANSWER: Greetings Michael thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

The Slide Out Room on Your RV may need to be adjusted. This is something that should be done by a Certified RV Technician. This is not a do it yourselfer job because depending on the type of slide out you have there could be up to 6 different adjustments that need to be made in a particular order. If the slide out is adjusted wrong it can damage the slide out and your trailer.

You might also want to consider installing Slide Out Toppersicon on the Slide Outs on your trailer. These toppers keep debris and water off the top of your slide out roof and from coming inside the RV.

Installing a Slide Out Toppericon is actually a do-it-yourselfer job. You can watch the video below to see how easily these toppers are to install.

leaking 2004 alfa motor home-bedroom slide
by: Richard James

I have been fighting a terrible leak between closet and bed pretty much along the whole length of the bedroom slide. It is so bad that large towels (many of them) aren't sufficient to sop up the water. Both in the open and closed position, this becomes a swimming pool. Any ideas on how to fix this problem? My coach went to the Alfa factory to be "re-built" when it was 2 years old after we tried to sue them to take the coach back. We of course had all the problems with leaking upon winter months. Naturally Alfa went out of business very soon after, so apparently there is no recourse. If anyone knows of a solution, please enlighten us. Very unhappy Alfa owner.

Afla Slide out leak
by: Don Schenk

We have a 2003 Afla with the kitchen slide out leaking after it rains. I though at first it was just when the kitchen was extended, then I closed it before rain and still have wet carpets, I tried to cover the slide out with a tarp and still the water is comming in, I just can not tell where. It looks like the roof of the kitchen has a good slope away from the body of the RV, the seal is a little tired, but, I even tried a coat of silicone at the seal edge and still the darn water keeps comming inside. The carpet get wet right at the back edge of the slide out. The leak must be behind the fridge or comming in some place other than the roof seal,, someone else must be having the same problem...
