Where Can We Get New Decals For Our RV?
by Dee
(Las Vegas, NV. )
We purchased a Dutchmen Denali in 9-07. It had been on the dealer's lot since late 2006, in Las Vegas. Three months ago we noticed on the front of the 5th wheel the decals are curled and flaking off. We were shocked, it's not that old, since it is out of warranty, can we purchase new decals from the manufacturer, if not, what other cost effective alternatives can you suggest?
ANSWER: Greetings Dee thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.
I am sorry to hear that you are losing the decals off of your RV. If you are looking to replace the decals with the original Dutchmen decals, you will need to contact Dutchmen which is a division of Thor Industries and see if they carry the decals for your model year. You can contact them by calling 574-537-0700 (sorry they do not have an 800 number) or e-mail them at parts@dutchmen.com. You will need the year and model number of your RV.
If they do not have the exact decals that are on your Denali; they should have some that will work. I cannot tell you how expensive they will be.
If you are looking for cheaper alternative decals to personalize your RV, eBay
has a large selection of reasonably priced RV Decals
to choose from.
One important thing that all RV Owner's need to be aware of is that the decals on their RVs should be cleaned and protected from the elements. The best way of protecting the RV finish is to use an RV Cover
whenever the RV is not in use. Most RVers do not cover their RV's between camping trips. One thing you should do whether you cover your RV or not is to regularly use a protectant on the RV's Decals.
The protectant that I highly recommend is
303 Aerospace Protectant
. 303 Aerospace protectant prevents damage to vinyl graphics from UV rays and petroleum products, which keeps them from cracking, peeling and fading. This product is highly rated by RVers that have used it. It has received a 5 star rating from consumers on
Amazon.com
Believe it or not 303 Aerospace Protectant is also used on Blimps. The Lightship Group is the world's largest airship operator, providing an integrated, full service Airship advertising and promotion programs for some of the most esteemed companies. Lightships is now using 303 Aerospace Protectant on the giant vinyl graphic decals that decorate the sides their fleet of blimps.
You have already seen what heat, sun and harsh weather can do to the vinyl graphics on your RV, so you might want to start treating your remaining graphics.
Hopefully the above information has been helpful to you.
