Campfire Apple Crumble

Campfire Apple Crumble

Editors Note: This recipe was submitted on our Favorite Camping Recipes Page.

You can make this in a cast iron skillet with lid....and if no campfire for the evening, make in electric skillet (watch the heat does not get too high).

Ingredients

4-5 Apples

2 cups granola (prepared or your own favorite)

1/4-1/2 cup brown sugar (amount depends on the sweetness of apple variety.)

1 Tbs. butter
Lemon juice

I find I don't go to recipes in the RV with too many ingredients!

Directions

Here are Some Great Grill and BBQ Accessories

Peel, core and slice the apples and put them in water and some lemon juice to stop from browning.

Mix the granola, half the sugar, and the butter.

Layer the apple slices in the bottom of a greased cast iron skillet (10"), Sprinkle with remaining brown sugar. Top with granola mixture and put on the lid.

Cook over a medium campfire for about 20-30 minutes. You can "peek" to see if bubbling, not burning.

Let cool, as the sugar will be hot hot hot before serving. Yum...

Serving Suggestions

Ice cream or whipped cream (RV rarity) does not hurt a bit when serving.
