How Can I Increase The Ground Clearance Of My Toy Hauler Trailer?

by Joe

I have a 2007 Work & Play 18 ft. I would like to raise the box up little more, 3 or 4 inches for more ground clearance. Any ideas?

Thank You

Joe

ANSWER: Greetings Joe thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.
Before I answer your question let me say that modifying any suspension on any type of RV can cause problems with handling, create stress to suspension system and could affect the overall performance of the RV. OK now that I have gotten that public announcement out of the way let me give you some suggestions on what you can do to get your Toy Hauler up higher.

Here are my suggestions in no particular order:

1. The ideal way to raise the suspension on your Toy Hauler would be to use a lift kit. I did a little searching on the internet and I could not locate a lift kit for your particular Toy Hauler. That does not mean that there is not a lift kit out there that might work I just could not find one.

2. If the axles of your toy hauler are currently riding on the inside of the leaf springs you can "Flip the Axles" so that the leaf springs are attached to the top of the axles. This could give you an extra 4" to 6" clearance.

3. You could retrofit some air shocks or air suspension bags to the suspension and use them to temporarily raise the suspension when you get to an area that you need the extra clearance.

I am sure that there are some other ways to accomplish this and I know that if any of our visitors have a suggestion for you, that they will leave a comment on this page.

Do us a favor, once you get this done leave a comment on this page letting us know exactly what you did.
