My RV's Dometic Fridge Keeps Blowing Fuses

by Garey
(Texas)

My Dometic RV Fridge blows fuses. It will work for about 4 days, then begins to blow the fuse in the fuse panel. It does not matter if it is hooked up to 110 or if is on 12v power. After I let it sit for a few days. I can replace the fuse and the process starts all over again. But once it blows a fuse, it continues to do so when the fuse is replaced, until it sits for a couple of days, turned off and unplugged. What can cause this?

ANSWER: Greetings Garey thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

I am afraid that there are too many things that could be causing the problem you are experiencing. The causes could range from bad Refridgerator Control Boards to ground issues in your RV.

Your best bet is to take the RV in and have a Certified RV Technician take a look at it. They have the proper equipment and knowledge to quickly track down the actual cause.

Since you do not tell me what model Dometic Fridge you have you might want to also check to see if your unit is subject to the current Dometic Refrigerator Recall for a possible fire hazard problem and if it is get it repaired at the same time.

Hope this helps.
