The Tip-Out On My 1989 35 Foot Jayco Will Not Run Or Move

by Bryan Mead
(Morton Wash. Lewis)

Tipout will not move. How do I get access to the area that it is installed in? Is there a manual over ride to make it functional? I have to do what it takes to get this mobile moved before it falls into the Cowlitz River.

ANSWER: Greetings Bryan thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

I am afraid that I am not familiar enough with the Tip-Out mechanism on your trailer to tell you how to override the system. I am going to assume that you do not have the Owner's Manual for your trailer. The Owner's Manual may have a section on what to do when the Tip-Out malfunctions.

You can download a free copy of the Owner's Manual from Cunningham Campers Incorporated Jayco Owner Manuals Download Page. In order to download the manual you have to Register With Their Website. Hopefully this manual will help you.

If the manual does not have the information you need, you have two options.

I am assuming that the Tip-Out that is malfunctioning is over the hitch and you cannot hookup your tow vehicle to move it. If that is the case you should contact a local tow company and see if they temporarily rig something up to your trailer, so it can at least be pulled out of harm’s way.

After you have the trailer in a safer area, you need to find out if there is a Mobile RV Repair Service in your area that can come out and repair the trailer on-site.

I am really sorry to hear that you are going through all of this and I hope that everything works out for you.
