Where Can I Find The Serial Number On a Dutchmen Travel Trailer?

by Dan Stadler
(Yakima WA)

How do I get a serial Number on a 95 Dutchmen trailer so I can get it licensed?

ANSWER: Greetings Dan thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

I wish I could tell you that there is a standard place that all trailer manufacturers put the serial numbers and VIN numbers on their units, but there isn't. The older the trailer the worse it is.

I am going to assume that you checked by the trailer's hitch to see if it is stamped in the metal in that area?

Your best bet since you are one of the lucky RV owners that owns an RV whose manufacturer is still in business is to Contact Dutchmen RVs and I am sure that they can point you to the right place to find the Serial Number or VIN.

Dutchmen customer service
by: Anonymous

I recently bought a said-to-be "'69 Komfort" travel trailer having no logo or name plate or stamp or embossed plate representing its make/model/year, but otherwise is in good condition. There is, however, a 9-digit ID of some sort etched into the left tongue rail (possibly the last 9 of the VIN, which is sometimes isolated?). But there's nothing else. No papers either, so after researching CA DMV's procedures, I've contacted Dutchmen for help identifying my trailer. Both of the customer service people I talked with were great! Unfortunately their archives don't go back that far (did Dutchmen acquire Komfort around then?), so next I'm going to drop down onto a crawler and check out the entire frame, starting with the underside of the tongue.
