Our Travel Trailer's 12 Volt Lights Go Out When We Plug Into 120 Volts.

by Anonymous

We have an older (1979) trailer and the 12v lights go out while it is plugged into 110v. The ligts come back on after a few minutes, but we can only use 1 or 2 at a time to avoid the problem. The 110 sockets still work when the 12v lights stop so we use a plug in lamp as backup.

ANSWER: Greetings thanks for submitting your question on our Ask An RV Question Page.

My gut feeling tells me that your trailer's converter is going bad or that your house battery or batteries are not receiving taking or holding a charge. Please take a look at the answer I gave to the question below. Follow the steps I provide in that answer to check out your Trailer's 12 volt electrical system.

Our RV Interior Lights Only Work When We Are Plugged In Or Generator Is Running

If after completing the steps outlined in the above document, you still are having problems, you may have t take your trailer and have it checked out by qualified RV Technician.
