RVers Favorite Accessories

We asked our Facebook Followers to tell us what their favorite RV accessories are, their answers are below

Nancy Rogers: generator to camp anywhere, anytime!

Jim O'Briant: Refrigerator, stocked with cold beverages --some are the kind you can drink while driving, and some are the kind you drink after you've parked at the end of the day. Oh, yes, and maybe some food, too.

Francine Byerly Gipson: combo washer/dryer

Cheryl Jones: We love our electric bikes. Once we arrive at our destination we take our bikes out and easily explore our new location while enjoying the open air and nature.

Lithium House Batteries

Tom Williams Our best RV Accessories are our RV's lithium house batteries and solar panels. We go boondocking quite a bit and can use all our electrical appliances without running our generator.

Suzy Coffin Carpenter: and air card.....so I can travel and still do my work.

heated mattress

Marlies Martin: Ok bathroom is a must but I really love my heated mattress. Means we don't have to run the heat as much on cold nights and when my husband cranks the a/c I am nice and cozy warm.

Sherry Barnes Hockersmith: My extra slide for a craft space of my very own.

Grill

Joe Barbuto: Surprised no one said Grill

Camping World

Portable Ice Maker
by: Randy

Portable Ice Maker

With no ice maker in our RV freezer, a countertop ice maker is a must for us! We bought an Igloo and used it for two years before it finally stopped working.

I picked up an Aldi Ambiano portable ice maker to replace it and I like it better. It fits in the space between the kitchen sink and the window. It keeps up with the two of us constantly getting ice.

dog pens and deer fencing
by: Bella's Mom

Deer Fencing

We always carry 2 exercise pens and deer fencing and build a "cage" that the entry door opens into. The deer fencing and bungee cords block off the undercarriage; the ex-pens are linked and extend from back wheel well to front well. Bella Dog can just leap out the door and she has her own yard where she allows her humans to sit also.

Exercise Pens

The Ex pens ride under the mattress on thin yoga mats (to deaden rattle) -- Winnie's garages are too small to hold them.

Can't RV WIthout My Mattress!
by: Anonymous

Foam Mattresses

We threw out the inner spring mattress and replaced it with a foam mattress. It has 3 inches + 3 inches + 2 inches of different types of foam. We added our foam mattress topper and haven't slept anywhere better since! Even when I was having hip problems (prior to surgery) this was a lifesaver!

Wine Coolers

I love my gourmet kitchen, complete with everything from a wine cooler for whites and a cabinet rack for reds. Plus the dishwasher and residential refrigerator.

As a former food editor, I also have the crockpot, pressure cooker, KitchenAid stand mixer (I make my own pasta) and wooden pasta drying rack. Some of these things we don't have in our home!

Convection Microwave
by: JamieB

So, I'm a new motorhome "camper" and our coach came with a convection microwave and no oven. It's a used unit so I don't have an owner's manual for the microwave.

I hear that everyone LOVES the convection capabilities but to be honest I'm old school and don't know how to use one to it's potential.

What is a good resource for becoming efficient with this new convenience? I want to love it too, but so far I don't have a clue :)

Answer: Hi Jamie, a good resource to use is You Tube.

Take a look at the video below to see an example of what is available to help you properly use your RV's convection microwave.

I hope this helps.

I can't live without my Convection/Microwave oven. I don't have a regular oven in my RV. They are to small to be of much use anyway.

One Accessory In RV That You Cannot Live Without
by: Bob

Hydraulic leveling jacks. It would be nearly impossible to hand jack my Redwood 36RL 5th wheel for hitching/unhitching. There is a manual override to the hydraulic system however that would be a monster task reserved for emergencies only.

heated matress
by: Keith

Hi
Our 2009 Rockwood came with a queen size heated mattress. There is a power plug that sticks out of one end of the matress that we plug in the adjustable thermostat. To be honest we don't camp in the cooler months, so we have never even tried it. It also needs 110 and we normally don't go places that have full hookups.

Heated mattress pad
by: Anonymous

Curious about the heated mattress. Do you mean a heated mattress pad?

Comment From RVing Al I am not really sure if there are actual heated mattresses available for RVs or not. A lot of RVers including my wife and I do use a Heated Mattress Pad and an Electric Blanket in our RV during our winter trips. By using those we can turn the furnace down and save on propane usage or having to use a space heater to keep us warm.

We have never had a problem staying warm even on fairly cold nights by using the pad and blanket.
